Scotty ran a test with a stock cam for a Baseline.

This is representative of what a 9.6 - 1 compression 455, with some head work, a B4B intake and a set of full length headers is capable of.

 

  It is often reported that mildly modified 455's are being shifted at 5100 RPM, and this is a good study of why that is. Shifting 300-500 RPM  past the Horsepower peak is ideal.
